The Sun came out this Wednesday for BikeMorzines first mates race of the season, with a good turn out of 40 riders of all different ages, sexes and from all over the world. The track was a timeless classic, Le Pleney Mainline (black) but with the twist of No-Chain being allowed on your bike, this meant the aim of the game was exit speed and putting bike handling skills well above fitness.
Above: The sun was well and truly out for this weeks race and things were drying up nicely.
Below: It was awesome to see young Pinner Jackson Goldstone smash the Youth Category.
Le Pleney mainline has seen better days with the "less than tropical" start to the season, leaving enough holes to shake your hands clean off the bars (See: Will Leverton and Tom Dixon). This combined with the slightly moisture on the ground meant the course was running significantly slower than last year, but that didn't stop Morzines finest guys and girls from pinning their way down the 4 - 6 minute course at full race pace.
(Above) Last Years Pleney Queen Rose Brombles scooting into 3rd Place with a 05:42, Amanda Vaughan snook into 2nd place with a 05:33. Italian Stallion Redz Betz 22 turned up this year and smoked the female field with a 05:24 (Below).
Above: Joel Anderson may have not won the race (4th Place) but he did win our hearts with this steezy No-Legger.
Last years 2nd place and Morzine's Semi-Local-Kiwi-GC Hayden Lockhart took the overall win with a 04:09, closely followed by Keegan Wright (04:13) and Guy Gibbs (04:15).
Big Shout Out to our awesome sponsors for allowing these free races to happen, as well as some awesome prizes, cheap beer and free pizza! Without them it wouldn't be possible:
See you this Wednesday at the Top of Super Morzine for the Air Downhill!
