With the Morzine summer season coming to an end the last BikeMorzine mates race turned the grassy ski slopes of Le Pleney into the drifty-est dual slalom course the world has ever seen! High Speed greasy off camber corners made it look more speedway than MTB.
A solid crew of seasonairres and locals turned up to churn some Le Pleney grass, as well as some World Cup boys that couldn't hack the pace and were knocked out in the first round. *Cough* Phil Atwill *Cough*
The course was made up of 2 lanes with 5 corners in each, all of varying speed/tightness. Names were picked at random to race each other in a knockout format and to keep things fair both riders raced each lane and the BikeMorzine timers worked out the time difference.
The short tight course made for some great racing with Georgie Richardson taking the win in women, closely followed by Rhona Stewart then Amie Marsh.
In the tightly contested mens race series winner Tom Cartigny took the top step despite a huge OTB on the finish line in a super close battle with 2nd place Will Leverton, closely followed by BikeMorzines Russ Paver.
BikeMorzine would like to thank all the local legends and holiday makers for making these races what they are, its always such a good light hearted atmosphere at the races and its a pleasure sending it with you all at Rogers Bar afterwards! Heres to next years races!
We would also like to thank all of our sponsors for allowing these races to run for free - Commencal, Muc Off, Burgtec, The Woods Morzine, Counterfeit Clothing, Urge, Rogers Bar and Bingley Textiles.
Keep your eyes peeled for next years events!
