What a time to be alive! I know I say this every week but after cutting a few laps of Hattock earlier in the day I have never been so jealous of those racing, what a track and what a day!! With 50+ racers and a whole load more media squids and hecklers lining the Super Morzine track the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing! This is what Mates Racing is about, having a laugh with your buddies, riding an awesome track in the sin and all washed down with a couple of coldies! DREAMY.
Hattock has to be a firm favourite for both locals and holiday makers in the Portes du Soleil. Fast, Rooty and big jumps, what more do you want from a Downhill track? They say a picture is a thousand words so ill save myself a bit of writing and check out some of these bangers below. Courtesy of Sam Taylor and Joe Killen.
It was awesome to see some under 16's up there racing and enjoying themselves, massive shout out to Ronan Dunn who took out the win with a storming time of 02:37.60 which would have put him in 12th in the Mens! Followed by Yuval Kron and Adam Burson. Seriously impressive, keep up the good work lads!
Womens saw our smallest women field yet (where were you ladies?) this meant a head to head battle between Kat Klos and Rose Brombles, with Kat taking out the win.
Mens had a 45+ strong field of pinners, but in the end it was Aussie Old School DH legend Sean Mccarrol taking out the win by an impressive 6 seconds over visiting South African Ronan Kumper, closely followed by rapid Frenchie Hugo Latelin and Les Gets drunkest man Sam Bradford just 00:00.10 off the podium.
Big thanks to all the Morzine Summer Legends that come up with smalls on their face each week and keep the BonVibez flowing! These events are an absolute pleasure to hold thanks to you guys.
Also massive thanks to our sponsors for keeping these events free:
After a long summers day Europes biggest bikepark there is nothing better than washing it down with a few beers at Bike Morzine property Hotel Le Cottage, which hosts our epic prize giving. Followed by a rowdy afterparty at Cafe Chaud Morzine!

This Wednesday (21st June) sees the return of the Bike Morzine Mates Race for 2017! As per usual we are kicking the summer off with a vintage Le Pleney Chainless. An absolute Morzine classic and one of everyones favourite races of the year its hard to beat smashing down Le Pleney mainline with no chain clattering around and that rear suspension working effortlessly with no mech resistance.
Smooth lines and exit speed is the name of the game for those competitive racers looking to become and King and Queen of Le Pleney, however fun is the real winner as you can see from Joel Anderson's acrobatic display last year.
Below Tom Neal comes out of Le Pleney Tunnel and keeps in low amongst the Morzine greenery.

First up what an absolute banger of a race!! Despite the forecast saying thunderstorms the weather played ball and provided a beautiful summers evening on the SuperMorzine hillside. After a quick sign on for nearly 50 riders it was time to get into racing.
The track ran from the top of Super Morzine, down fast flowing berms of the Red trail, over the road gap before plummeting into Hattock at mach 10. Hattock is Super Morzine's hardest trail, littered with roots, road gaps and doubles it isnt for the faint hearted, to be in with a chance of winning you needed to confident hitting off camber roots, compressions and big senders! With the recent nice weather we've been having Super Morzine was running an absolute dream, with roosty dusty corners, more grip on the roots than we've ever seen and the track lined with rowdy spectators, no wonder everyone was absolutely peaking off the track.

Below: How not to do it - Felix Montangue
Below: Just a small turnout for the girls but all of them were killing it, with Nina Merzcuajensen (definitely spelt wrong) taking out the win by over 20 seconds, despite completing a bush dive during her run!
Ben Worrall taking the win in the Mens category by over 5 seconds. "Its the hardest Ive ever tried in any race and by far the most fun".
Also Shout out to Sam (13) and Tom (9) Westgate for getting down Super Morzines hardest track and hitting most of the big jumps, these cheeky buggers are going far.
Thanks again to everyone that has come up and raced, helped with timing, cheered the racers along or shared a beer with us. You guys are what make these races what they are!
And of course big thanks to our sponsors for letting these mates races go ahead.
The Woods Morzine
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
This Wednesday saw BikeMorzine's mates race hit the slopes of SuperMorzine onto some of the world famous Avoriaz MTB jump trails. After a week of 25+ degrees weather the course was hardpacked and dusty, a whole different ball game compared to last weeks Le Pleney Chainless.
The race course ran down the SuperMorzine Jump track "Cap Carneval" a fast paced trail littered with Jumps and Berms all leading into the iconic Super Morzine table. Despite the awesome conditions and fast rolling track, there would still be a lot of pedalling if you wanted to come out on top.

After racing we will head down to Rogers Bar for Cheap Beer and Free Pizza (courtesy of Mammas Morzine) as well as some awesome prizes from our sponsors below:
See you up there sports fans.
The Sun came out this Wednesday for BikeMorzines first mates race of the season, with a good turn out of 40 riders of all different ages, sexes and from all over the world. The track was a timeless classic, Le Pleney Mainline (black) but with the twist of No-Chain being allowed on your bike, this meant the aim of the game was exit speed and putting bike handling skills well above fitness.
Above: The sun was well and truly out for this weeks race and things were drying up nicely.
Below: It was awesome to see young Pinner Jackson Goldstone smash the Youth Category.
Le Pleney mainline has seen better days with the "less than tropical" start to the season, leaving enough holes to shake your hands clean off the bars (See: Will Leverton and Tom Dixon). This combined with the slightly moisture on the ground meant the course was running significantly slower than last year, but that didn't stop Morzines finest guys and girls from pinning their way down the 4 - 6 minute course at full race pace.
(Above) Last Years Pleney Queen Rose Brombles scooting into 3rd Place with a 05:42, Amanda Vaughan snook into 2nd place with a 05:33. Italian Stallion Redz Betz 22 turned up this year and smoked the female field with a 05:24 (Below).
Above: Joel Anderson may have not won the race (4th Place) but he did win our hearts with this steezy No-Legger.
Last years 2nd place and Morzine's Semi-Local-Kiwi-GC Hayden Lockhart took the overall win with a 04:09, closely followed by Keegan Wright (04:13) and Guy Gibbs (04:15).
Big Shout Out to our awesome sponsors for allowing these free races to happen, as well as some awesome prizes, cheap beer and free pizza! Without them it wouldn't be possible:
See you this Wednesday at the Top of Super Morzine for the Air Downhill!
