France is still in the AMBER category: - Those vaccinated do not have to quarantine upon return. -Those unvaccinated have a 5 day minimum home self isolation is required on return if using the test to release system.
Is it illegal to travelling to an AMBER Country? As of 9th July, you no longer need an essential reason to travel to France from the UK.
Travelling to France From 9th June, fully vaccinated Brits can travel to France.
If you are vaccinated, you can now travel to France with no "essential reason". You must have received both of your vaccines at least 2 weeks before travelling and carry a negative PCR or Antigen test taken < 72 hours & <48 hours respectively. Children under 18 can travel with fully vaccinated parents, providing they return a negative antigen test 48 hours before departure.
The French Government has outlined their plans for re-opening the country from lockdown, which will follow the below schedule:
MAY 3rd Lockdown will finish, travel between regions will be allowed once again. The 7PM curfew will remain in place, to keep transmission levels down.
MAY 19th Restaurants and bars offering outdoor seating can open once again. Non-essential businesses can open. Curfew extends to 9PM
JUNE 9th Tourists can once again travel to France!!! A pass sanitare (health pass) will be required. This allows vaccinated Brits to travel to France, Public events of up to 5,000 people may take place, with the health pass Bars & Restaurants can open with indoor seating The curfew pushes back to 11PM
JUNE 30th 11pm curfew will be lifted.
PASS SANITARE Put simply, a pass sanitare is a way for the government to check your COVID status and check you are not at risk of transmitting the disease. If you are Vaccinated, Recovered or have a recent negative test, then this will grant you access into the country and too large events. More information here
The French government has confirmed that British vaccination certificates can be loaded into the TousAntiCovid app (which is downloadable from abroad) so, providing you’re double jabbed you’ll generate your own health pass through the well established TousAntiCovid app by scanning the QR codes of your vaccination certificates.
As of early August, you'll need to have a Pass Sanitare to visit a bar, restaurant, cafe, cultural event, travel on a train or plane. You do not need to show your Pass Sanitare to travel on a. chairlift/gondola.
COVID TESTING IN MORZINE There are many options for Covid testing when in Morzine.
A antigen test is free & readily available at pharmacies in Morzine town, taking just 30 minutes for results. These are available 8.30 - 12.30 & 2.30 - 7pm Monday to Saturday and opening 9am on Sunday. These tests costs 40Euros to non-French residents.
PCR tests are available at the Morzine & Les Gets medical centres, with results currently being delivered within 24 hours (but this can vary). These tests are available without an appointment from Monday - Friday 8am - 8.30AM & 5pm - 5.30pm. We have been told that if the demand for these tests increases, the capacity can also increase to match it.
There is also a lab 20 minutes out of town which offers results within 24 - 48 hours, the cost of. PCR test is 54euros currently.
COVID TESTING ON RETURN TO THE UK Upon returning to the UK you currently need to provide a PCR test 72 hours before you enter the UK, these are available from all pharmacies and medical centres in Morzine & France.
You need to purchase your Day 2 & Day 8 tests for once you have returned to the UK before you arrive at the border, we recommend https://www.testingforall.org/ for the most affordable option at £99 in total.
